- Garden planner app for your beds, plantings and watering, with what's due this week to water and harvest. An AI Putty example you can copy and change.
Garden planner: beds, watering and harvests
A garden planner for anyone who grows in a few beds and wants to know what needs water and what's ready to pick. It's a live example built with AI Putty from one sentence: "Make me a garden planner: my beds, what's planted where, when I watered, and remind me what's due this week." You can import it into your own project and change it by talking to your AI.
Due this week
The top of the page has two boxes.
- 💧 Water: the beds that need water in the next seven days, soonest first. Each shows how often it wants water (every N d), when it was last watered, and when it's due: N days overdue (red), today or within two days (yellow), or later in the week (green).
- 🧺 Harvest: plantings you can start picking in the next seven days (from ), and ones whose date passed in the last month (ready).
A bed is due on its last watering plus the shortest water every among what's planted in it. A bed with plantings that was never watered is due today.
Log a watering and add a planting
- Log a watering (members): pick the Bed and the Date, add Notes if you like, then Log. The bed drops off Due this week until its next date.
- Add a planting (members): pick the Bed, name the Plant, say when it was Planted, how often it wants water (Water every (days), 7 to start) and when you can start harvesting (Harvest from), then Add.
Beds and recent waterings
- Beds: one card per bed with its size in m², its sun (full, part or shade), its notes, and what's in it. Each planting shows when it went in, how often it wants water and when it can be harvested. The card ends with when the bed was last watered and when it's next due.
- Recent waterings: the last ten, newest first, with the date, the bed and the notes.
Examples
"Which beds need water this week?" Look at 💧 Water in Due this week. Overdue beds come first, in red. In the sample garden, the Herb corner holds only parsley, which wants water every 5 days, so the bed is due 5 days after its last watering.
"Why is the North raised bed due every 7 days, when garlic wants water every 10?" The bed also holds overwintering onions, which want water every 7 days. The shortest interval in the bed wins.
"What can I pick soon?" Look at 🧺 Harvest. In the samples, the winter lettuce and spinach in the Greenhouse border can be picked from November 3 and 5, so they show there with a from date in the week before.
Make it yours
Ask your AI to import it (see Garden): "import the garden app from examples". Your project gets the model, the app, this help and the sample garden, and from then on it's yours to change. Then, say:
- "Add my three beds"
- "Skip watering when it rained"
- "Email me on Monday what's due this week"
- "Add a harvest log, so I can note what I picked and how much"
How it's built
Three classes: a bed (name, size, sun), a planting (one plant in one bed, how often it wants water, when it can be harvested) and a watering (a dated note for one bed). Each planting and watering names its bed through a computed field, so every view and export calls the bed the same way. The page works out the due dates, since they depend on today. See GardenDesign for the layout and Garden for all the parts.
